How far ahead should you book?
For domestic departures we recommend being at the terminal 90 minutes before your flight; for international, 3 hours. Work backwards from that and add the drive time in the table below, plus 15 minutes of buffer for traffic on the Tullamarine Freeway.
Pre-book at least the night before for any pickup between 3am and 6am. Those are the busiest departure windows in Melbourne and on-demand availability is thin.
Fixed fare or metered?
Every trip to Melbourne Airport can be run on the Victorian meter or on a fixed price quoted before the trip starts. The fixed price does not move if you hit traffic on CityLink, which is why most airport passengers choose it.
Metered trips follow the standard CPVV tariffs: a flagfall, a per-kilometre rate that changes between day, night and peak periods, plus tolls and the Melbourne Airport pickup fee where applicable. Use the fare calculator to see both figures for your exact address.
Which terminal do you need?
Melbourne Airport has four terminals. T1 is Qantas and QantasLink, T2 is all international plus some domestic, T3 is Virgin Australia and T4 is Jetstar, Rex and Bonza-style low-cost carriers.
Tell dispatch your airline and we set the drop-off at the right departures door, so you are not walking the length of the terminal with luggage.
Luggage, seats and payment
Standard sedans take four passengers with normal luggage — typically two large cases plus cabin bags. If you are travelling with oversized gear such as golf clubs or a surfboard, mention it when booking so the right car is sent.
Baby capsules and booster seats are fitted on request at no extra cost. We accept card, EFTPOS, Cabcharge and MPTP, and tax invoices are issued on the spot for business travel.
