Melbourne Airport Terminal 1 taxi: what to expect

Terminal 1 is the Qantas domestic terminal at the northern end of the terminal precinct. It shares a walkway with T2, so if the T1 rank is backed up after a bank of arrivals, a pre-booked pickup at the kerb is usually quicker than queueing.

Metered airport trips are charged on the Victorian government-set tariff plus the airport pickup fee and any tolls on the route. The fare calculator on this page applies the correct day, night or peak rate for your pickup time so there are no surprises at the end.

For long transfers — Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, the Mornington Peninsula — ask for a fixed price when you book. The total is agreed before departure and does not change if the freeway slows.

Travelling out to a flight instead? Book the night before for anything departing before 9am, and allow 20 to 30 minutes extra during weekday peak. Card, EFTPOS, cash, Cabcharge and MPTP-subsidised fares are all accepted, with a receipt on request.
