Where taxis drop off and pick up at Melbourne Park
The usual drop-off is on Olympic Boulevard near the Rod Laver Arena entrance, with Batman Avenue and the Swan Street side used when Olympic Boulevard is closed for event traffic management. During the tournament, road closures shift day to day, so tell your driver which arena you are heading to — Rod Laver, Margaret Court, John Cain or the outside courts — and they will use the closest open access point.
For pickups after a session, the sensible move is to pre-book and agree a meeting point away from the main exit crush. Richmond Station, the corner of Swan Street and Olympic Boulevard, or Birrarung Marr are all faster to reach than the arena forecourt once 15,000 people leave at the same time.
Night sessions and the 1am problem
Night sessions regularly finish after midnight, and five-set matches can push that well past 1am. That is exactly when rideshare multipliers peak and availability collapses. The Victorian night tariff is a published fixed rate — it does not move because a match went long.
If you are attending a night session, book the return leg when you book the outbound. We hold the car and dispatch it as you leave, so you are not standing on Olympic Boulevard refreshing an app.
Typical trips during the tournament
CBD hotels to Melbourne Park is a short 5–10 minute run. South Yarra, Richmond, East Melbourne and Docklands are all under 15 minutes off-peak. From Melbourne Airport, allow 30–45 minutes to Melbourne Park depending on the time of day.
Groups arriving on a flight the same day should give us the flight number so arrivals are tracked and the driver waits if the plane is late.
